New Nonstop Flights from San Francisco to Poland Launch in 2026

Travel enthusiasts in the Bay Area can look forward to an exciting new flight option to Europe starting next summer. LOT Polish Airlines will introduce a nonstop route between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) on May 6, 2026. This new service marks a significant addition for travelers seeking direct access to Central Europe.

The flights will operate four times a week, specifically on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, utilizing a modern Boeing 787 aircraft. Robert Ludera, the director of network development at LOT Polish Airlines, emphasized the strategic importance of this transatlantic service. He stated, “Not only will the new route connect the heart of Europe with the global hub for technology and innovation, but it will also open up new opportunities for both business travelers and tourists.”

This new route to Warsaw will be LOT’s first new U.S. destination since it began flights to Miami International Airport (MIA) in 2019. The airline also services other major U.S. cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Newark, and New York. As a member of the Star Alliance and a partner with United Airlines, LOT offers additional benefits for travelers. Members of United’s MileagePlus loyalty program can earn and redeem points on LOT flights while enjoying reciprocal elite status benefits.

Mike Nakornkhet, the director of SFO, expressed enthusiasm about this new service, noting that it fulfills a long-standing demand for nonstop flights to Central Europe. He remarked, “This represents the culmination of more than eight years of dedicated work by our Aviation Marketing & Development team.” The addition of LOT Polish Airlines is particularly noteworthy as it is SFO’s first new international airline since South Korean Air Premia began operations at the airport in May 2024.

Currently, the most easterly nonstop destinations in Europe from SFO are Copenhagen, served by Scandinavian Airlines, and Munich, serviced by Lufthansa and United. The introduction of LOT’s flights to Warsaw will enhance travel options for those looking to explore more of Europe without the hassle of connecting flights.

For travelers interested in maximizing their travel experiences, utilizing credit cards strategically can provide significant benefits. Many credit cards offer rewards that can be redeemed for cash back or travel experiences, making it easier to explore new destinations. However, it’s important to choose the right card that aligns with your travel goals.

In summary, the introduction of nonstop flights from San Francisco to Warsaw by LOT Polish Airlines is a promising development for travelers in the Bay Area. With convenient scheduling and the potential for enhanced travel experiences, this new route will make it easier for both business and leisure travelers to connect with Central Europe. Whether you’re planning a business trip or a leisurely vacation, this new service is worth considering as you plan your next adventure.
