New Nonstop Flights to Bermuda from LaGuardia and Newark Airports

Travel enthusiasts in the United States have exciting news: BermudAir, a leisure airline, is launching new nonstop flights to Bermuda from two of New York City’s major airports—LaGuardia (LGA) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). This development, set to begin in October, marks a significant expansion for the Bermuda-based carrier, which will now operate directly from the heart of the city rather than its previous northern suburban location.

Starting October 26, BermudAir will commence its flights from Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA) to Newark. Just three days later, on October 29, the airline will kick off its service from BDA to LaGuardia. In addition, a new subsidiary of BermudAir, AnguillAir, will begin offering twice-weekly flights from Anguilla’s Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA) to Newark starting December 18.

BermudAir will operate flights to Newark twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays, while LaGuardia will see service on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The airline utilizes a fleet that includes Embraer E175 and E190 aircraft, known for their comfort and efficiency.

With this move, BermudAir is discontinuing its service to Westchester County Airport (HPN), located north of New York City, as it shifts its focus to the more competitive air traffic at LGA and EWR. Adam Scott, the founder and CEO of BermudAir, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, “Expanding our New York-area service is a significant step forward for BermudAir, providing both leisure and corporate travelers with more flexibility and convenient access to Bermuda.”

The addition of these flights raises questions about how BermudAir secured slots at these highly sought-after airports, as both LGA and EWR have tightly regulated landing rights. The airline has not disclosed the specifics regarding its acquisition of these slots, leaving many curious about the negotiation process involved.

In addition to its New York expansions, BermudAir is also scaling back its network. The airline will cease operations to Charleston International Airport (CHS) in South Carolina on October 26 and to Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Hartford, Connecticut, on December 14. Earlier this year, it also discontinued flights to T.F. Green International Airport (PVD) in Providence, Rhode Island.

Currently, BermudAir does not have a loyalty program, nor does it participate in existing airline loyalty programs, which may be a consideration for frequent travelers. However, it will be the only airline offering direct flights between LaGuardia and Bermuda, while the Newark-Bermuda route will compete with United Airlines.
